Dr Jasmine Hazel Shadrack is an adjunct professor at the Don Wright Faculty of Music Research and Composition, Western University, Canada. She is also a visiting lecturer at BIMM, Berlin, Falmouth University, UK and the University of Central Missouri, USA. She has been a member of ISMMS since 2014 and sits on their editorial board as well as the new series through Intellect Books entitled Advances in Metal Music and Culture. Her monograph, Black Metal, Trauma, Subjectivity and Sound: Screaming the Abyss was published in January 2021 through Emerald Publishing. She is also the co-author of Embodying the Music and Death Nexus: Consolations, Salvations and Transformations (with Marie Josephine Bennett and Gary Levy) through Emerald Publishing which came out in August 2022, Heavy Metal and Disability: Crips, Crowds and Cacophonies (with Keith Kahn-Harris) through Intellect (forthcoming, Spring catalogue 2024), Death and the Senses (with Christina Welch, forthcoming 2024) through Equinox, and Women and Femme Voices in Metal Music, Culture, and Scholarship: Strategies of Resistance with Francesca Stevens through Routledge (forthcoming, Summer catalogue 2025).
